Item Name : Carl Zeissopton Anamorphot Prototype
Serial no. : 14933 V10/1
Reference : Zeiss-Opton Anamorphot System 1:2 Nr14399 v 10 /1.Prototype 1 of 10.This is an attachment lens. This lens focuses in the same direction as a motion picture camera lens does.Has 3 mounting holes which are slightly slotted allowing for correct orientation of the anamorphic with the prime taking lens. This lens is out of a private collection of lenses and camera gear that came from the Warner Brothers Studio in Burbank, California. In the early days after the development of the 20th Century Fox Cinemascope lens the other major studios rushed to get in on the widescreen format. Warner Bros. entered into an agreement with Zeiss to develop an Anamorphic lens for the studio. Warner Bros. would call the process �WARNER SCOPE�. Zeiss delivered the prototype lenses late, and by then Warner Bros. had made an arrangement with 20th Century Fox to use their Cinemascope system.It may be prototype of WARNERSCOPE lens.
